Advantages of your company-wide email server going down for an entire day:
- No threat of receiving the authoritative "let's discuss" emails that result in putting any and all tasks on hold.
- Extended periods of uniterruption result in higher levels of productivity
- An opportunity to blog
- Having a viable reason for why I didn't send the email I was supposed to send to a group of co-workers
Disadvantages:
- Signing in to a website to temporarily view email and upon having zero messages, hearing the IT guy laugh and say "that's how important you are to the outside world!"
I would have sent you an email had I known that you needed to feel important even in the midst of a meltdown crisis!
